Seen & Heard: It's My Job

Two minutes ago, the department director walked out the back door of the department and accross the hall to the mail room.  On her way back in, she glanced at the empty desk of my co-worker, Root (who I was hired to job share with, so she used to work M-T-W and I picked up W-T-F but now I'm full time and I still do some parts of my old job sharing job--including abstracting baby charts).

As Pat walks by my desk (1/2 way down the row of pods back to her office), she says, "Did anyone do the baby charts today?" 

And I echo "Yeah... *slight pause* It's my job..."

Everyone laughs as she realizes and says "Yeah, I guess that's what we did hire you for."

I'm getting a lot of mileage out of these Seen & Heards in the workplace.
