No, I'm not talking about Amazon's credit card, I'm blogging about the new Amazon.com Prime account that expands on their history of great shipping freebies.
When you surf over to Amazon today, you'll be greeted with that letter-type message from Jeff Bezos (Founder and CEO of Amazon.com) that you get when Amazon wants to tell you about a new feature. I believe I received it when they were promoting the A9 search tool (which I still use every day) and collecting donations for tsunami victims (which I donated to also).
It explains how for $79 a year, all your 2-day shipping orders will be free, and you can upgrade to overnight for $3.99. As a college student that just spent $30 this semester on shipping books overnight to her fiance via Amazon (and I use them every semester), this is a great deal. The better deal is that I buy butt-loads of stuff from Amazon and I also qualify for their A9 discount because I use their search engine. Based on how much I buy from Amazon, the A9 discount and the $79 yearly fee pratcically cancels out for me.
The freedom I feel--knowing that I can order what I want, when I want, and it doesn't have to be $25 or more to get free shipping--is worth this investment.
